Tyler Grogan is the owner and operator of Emerald Sound Outfitters, a veteran-owned sea duck hunting operation based on Washington’s Puget Sound.

Tyler’s passion for sea duck hunting, knowledge of the region’s coastal waters, and commitment to safety are at the heart of every Emerald Sound hunting experience.

Using a 21-foot Bankes Goliath duck boat, UFO layout boats, and handmade species-specific decoys, Tyler adapts each hunt to the weather, tides, bird movement, and species his clients hope to pursue.

Sea ducks are the featured species and primary objective of this professionally guided hunt. Puget Sound offers hunters the opportunity to pursue some of North America’s most striking waterfowl across the dramatic coastal waters of western Washington.

Depending on weather, tides, bird movement, and applicable regulations, hunters may have opportunities for Harlequins, Long-tailed Ducks, Goldeneyes, Buffleheads, Greater Scaup, Mergansers, and all three species of Scoters.

Depending on the weather, water conditions, and species being pursued, Emerald Sound Outfitters also utilizes UFO layout boats for an immersive, low-profile hunting experience. Handmade, species-specific decoys complete a specialized setup built for Pacific Northwest sea ducks.
